How to Sync Garmin Data with Sworkit

Garmin devices do not connect directly to Sworkit. Instead, Garmin data is shared with Sworkit through Apple Health (iOS) or Health Connect (Android). This article walks you through both setups step-by-step.

What Garmin Data Can Sync to Sworkit?

When connected properly, Sworkit can receive the following activity data from Garmin:

  • Workouts and activity minutes

  • Steps & distance completed

⚠️ Medical or advanced health metrics (such as VO₂ max, stress scores, blood oxygen, or body battery) are not synced to Sworkit.

Advanced Troubleshooting

Important for missing data or discrepancies: Step Data Priority (iOS & Android)

If you use more than one fitness device or app, your phone may be prioritizing step data from a source other than Garmin. This is the most common reason Garmin steps do not appear in Sworkit.

iPhone: Adjust Step Priority in Apple Health

  1. Open Apple Health

  2. Go to Browse (search icon) → Activity → Steps

  3. Scroll down and tap Data Sources & Access

  4. Ensure Garmin Connect is enabled

  5. Under Data Sources, ensure:

    • Garmin is listed at the top

  6. If not, tap Edit at the top right, then reorder the Data Sources section so Connect is listed first.

If another app (such as Apple Watch, Fitbit, or phone‑based tracking) is above Garmin, Apple Health may ignore Garmin step data.

Android: Adjust Step Priority in Health Connect

  1. Go to Settings > Security & Privacy > More Privacy Settings > Health Connect.

  2. Tap Data and access > Activity > Steps.

  3. Tap Data sources & priority.

  4. Tap Edit and drag Garmin Connect to the top of the list. This tells Sworkit to prioritize Samsung’s data over other sources.

Common Questions

My Garmin steps aren’t showing in Sworkit

This is usually caused by one of the following:

  • Garmin Connect has not synced recently

  • Another app or device is prioritized for step data

  • Permissions were not fully enabled

What to do first:

  • Open Garmin Connect and manually sync

  • Check step data priority (see above)

  • Confirm Garmin permissions in Apple Health or Health Connect

  • Close and reopen the Sworkit app

I have to open Garmin Connect to trigger a sync — is this expected?

Yes. Garmin does not always sync data automatically in the background.

To ensure your latest steps appear:

  1. Open Garmin Connect

  2. Pull down or tap Sync

  3. Allow time for Apple Health or Health Connect to update

  4. Then open Sworkit

This behavior is controlled by Garmin and affects many third‑party apps.

Can Garmin send data directly to Sworkit?

No. Garmin requires Apple Health (iOS) or Health Connect (Android) as the intermediary.

Does Sworkit send workouts back to Garmin?

No. The connection is one-way: Garmin → Apple Health / Health Connect → Sworkit.

Android Workaround: Garmin Not Appearing in Health Connect | Use the Health Sync App

In some cases, Garmin and Health Connect do not recognize each other, even when permissions are enabled. If this happens, there is a proven workaround.

Some users have successfully resolved this issue by using Health Sync, a third-party Android app that bridges Garmin and Health Connect.

How it works:

Garmin → Health Sync → Health Connect → Sworkit

While this does require installing an additional app, it has allowed users who were previously unable to connect to successfully sync their Garmin data into Sworkit.

Health Sync (Google Play):

ℹ️ Health Sync is a third-party app and is not built or owned by Sworkit. Availability, pricing, and support are managed by the app developer. There is a cost to use this service.
